Re: The Kata in the Mirror

Bill and Stryke, using the moves from the kata as drills / applications, is probably something I haven't done nearly enough. That's something I'll be increasing. Good info. :)

Re: The Kata in the Mirror

Glenn, My youngest son (Shane) is a lefty also, and I suspect he could relate very well to your feelings / perspective. Of course I think that also goes to show, that we've all become too comfortable with the right side dominated katas. We practice self defense, or "one-step" drills on bot...

The Kata in the Mirror

How many folks out there, practice their katas "right and left"? I have done so on a limited basis, and plan to increase this. The fact that I find it foreign and akward to do many of the moves on the left side, seems to illustrate the need for this kind of practice.

Snakes, Lizards and Dragons.

The other morning, I was brushing up on my reptile info. and looking for new tidbits of knowledge prior to teaching a session at a science camp. It was during this search for new info, that I read something of interest to me. Under Serpent Symbolism- Wiki said in many ancient cultures, that the word...

Re: Beware the Facebook Sirens

I have a simple effective way to identify those gals. They are hot, I don't know them, they have little info about themselves, and all of their "friends" are male. Delete Request!

Re: Sanchin in the Bluegrass state

Thanks for the feedback Bill! Excellent points. Shane is always looking for constructive criticism, and the foot thing is something I hadn't caught. Its probably a result of how I break down the turn for white belts, when trying to help them remember which direction to turn. Note the extreme thoraci...

Sanchin in the Bluegrass state

I hadn't broke out the camcorder in awhile. However, I took this footage of my son recently and thought I'd share. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=435835289774879 Bert PS: Glenn you may enjoy this if you remember Shane when he was 6 or 7 years old, and I'd bring him to Dave Lamb's class there in...

Re: Oh to be back in Kentucky right now

The difference in reaction between Lexington and Louisville is hardly surprising, given how unfortunately commonplace it has become for fans of the winning team to be destructive when celebrating a perceived major victory. Glenn, I think there was a concern among some, as to how fans of the losing ...

Re: Oh to be back in Kentucky right now

Basketball is to Kentucky, what Football is to Nebraska. In my P.E. 101 class (history and statistics) at WKU, our Instructor said the reason Bear Bryant went back to Alabama to Coach, was that he could not stand to coach in a state where Football was a secondary sport. Though I'm not a big basketba...
