Wow, that's is incredible. Steve allowed me to train with him while he had a school here in Massachusetts for a while back in the late 80s. He was a great practitioner of Sensei Frank Gorman. I lost contact with him when he went to Florida, but he will be missed.
thanks,
mike

Hi John, Well, I'm not getting into coversations about Amiens, Cassino, or Normandy tonight. Way too much for one thread. However, concerning Meade and Gettysburg. You are correct when you stated he made fewer mistakes than Lee. In fact, the biggest Union mistake was made by Gen. Dan Sickles who mov...

Fred, I know you were kidding. To answer your question though, I think that it was a matter of two factors. On one hand they were trying to protect Marse Lee, while on the other hand, they were trying to protect the sanctity of Ole Virginia. No Virginian ever did anything wrong in the war don't you ...

Gee Fred, All you have to do is look who was writing the history after the war to see to what extent they went to protect people like Gen. Lee, Stuart, Jackson, etc. Of course, you can narrow it right down to the Virginian veterans who really played a huge role in the writing. I mean, look how quick...

Hi John, Love to talk Gettysburg. As far as Jeb Stuart goes, his 1862 raid around the Union army was amazing (especially as he was being chased by his father-in-law). However, his raid around Gettysburg is a double edged sword as you put it, but not in the way you put it. Stuart received permission ...

great raids
John, Research into the US Civil War will discover many amazing "raids" from both sides. The first great raid would have to be Gen. Jeb Stuart's ride around the Army of the Potomac during the 1862's Union Army's Peninsula Campaign. Stuart and his Confederates rode completely around, all th...

Bill, No comment on the Toyota. Never bought one, never will! However, I understand completely about the British Bike. My first was a 72 Norton Commando. I wish I had a picture of it, but when I was done with it, there wasn't much left. The thing was so top-heavy, I dumped it more times than I can r...

Hi John Sensei, Let me fill in some blanks as we both have the same background. I said this on this thread years ago that I never met Kresge personally, but I do have a copy of his book. I brought it to the summer camp years ago at Bill Sensei's request. It's a good book, self-published with only 20...

Victor and Bill, As I haven't read the article, the title seems to imply what I've been telling people for a long time and what I teach my students. All of the Shime Waza (choking techniques) we do in Nihon Jujitsu deal with the carotid (just depends on how I'm holding the person). However, in worki...

Congratulations
Congratulations to George Sensei! There is no one in the United States that deserves this honor more. George Sensei is a pioneer, teacher, practitioner, friend, and living legend to all of us who study Uechi-ryu. This award is well-deserved!
Congrats again George,
Mike

John, Don't stay out of it, it's a good argument. BTW, probably for anther thread, but don't you think it is ironic that history has spotlighted the holocaust and the 6 million Jews who lost their lives horribly. However, where is the sympathy for the millions of uncounted Chinese civilians who lost...
