If the hook comes from your right... cover your right ear with your right hand while angling your elbow out in front of you. In either case, you are open to a body shot... but if...

Sityodtong is in Somerville too. They are very close to public transit (I think the blue line). They are primarily a Muay Thai school, but they have grappling classes with a great instructor as well. Kenny Florian is a Black Belt in BJJ and also fights in the UFC... he trains there too. They also h...

I think their website is http://bttboston.com There is a listing of most of the schools that do grappling and mma o...

We didnt have anyone on this card because it was up in the air until a week or so ago if the show was even taking place. It is on now though, and should be a good show. Its also the same night as the UFC, and there will be a party at the fights watching it after. We have guys fighting 2/26 at Mass D...

Rodrigo is a good guy, and an amazing fighter/grappler. I fought one of his students a few months ago. We had another of our guys fight one of his other students a month or so before, and I got to talk to Rodrigo a little bit at the after party dinner. VERY Funny guy. Chris Palmquist (one of our oth...

I think that John sees where I am coming from. Just because you may find little use in what you do, dont assume others surround themselves with the same impractical activites. I wish others were REALLY as confident in the practicality (and level of effectivness) of what THEY do as our guys at RSD. J...

Re: real deal

I can teach my dog technique. I honestly don't believe that's the hard part. Teaching the person to actually use it in a non-controlled environment such that you live in, or hand-to-combat in the service when everything is on the line, is where someone's mettle is certainly tested. That is what I f...

Re: The Real Deal

And this is NO knock on anyone, but let's be honest with ourselves, how many of us really use what we do? I use quite a bit of what I do, what do you use against someone trying to take your head off on a normal basis? If I didnt feel 100% comfortable with what I was doing, I would find something el...

Thanks Jim. It was great seeing you again. I had a great time on Friday and Saturday... and my phone has been ringing off the wall with people calling me and Congratulating me and trying to set me up to be on their cards... which is funny, because I was off the map about 2 months ago. So this is def...
