Democratic National Convention

I'm surprised that no one has brought this up yet. What did you guys think about what they had to say? Did any of you even watch it?

If he's shooting that thing, why doesn't he have anything over his ears? Mabye I'm just a sissy, but those things are LOUD! There are a few things disconcerning about this picture, but there is also the fact that the situation at hand isn't at all clear. The finger on the trigger is obviously the mo...

Good points though. In my view, the other half of the problem is that we don't pay teachers enough . Too true. Where do we get the money for this? Just thinking out loud here, but how much is the war on Iraq costing us? Conditions for private school sounds much different where you live, but around ...

I would say there is definately some merit to saying that Moore used some underhanded techniques in his movie. Such as the Fox news exec. 'calling the election', when in fact, media projections have nothing to do with the outcome of the election. I thought that was a poor thing to point out. Bush pr...

Against my better judement (I'm not a big fan of arguing on the internet) I've decided to put in my two cents. Farenheit 9/11 is a biased movie, and some of the things in it may border on untruths if not actually falling smack dab in the territory of lying. However, many of the posts on this very bo...

I've heard similar comments about Kerry including one woman who said she was going to vote for him "because he's just sooooo much more handsome than Bush." (Panther) I hate hearing things like that. Deceased war veterans and signers of the constitution are spinning in their graves, no dou...

War Crimes and Kerry's Opposition to the War

Yes in fact, there were many war crimes committed by U.S. soldiers. There were many war crimes committed by the Vietcong as well. There is no way to fight against such a vicious and resourceful enemy without resorting to some of the same atrocious behaviors. Almost all of what the soldiers did in th...

Huh?

"And whether it is in a couple of years or ~5 years, the plan is to have a Clinton in the Whitehouse again... Should we return them to give them a second chance at destroying the place when they move out? Will they move out a second time?" -Panther You have a lot of good information in wh...

I can see what you mean about the hetero domination thing. There is quite a bit of merit to that. All I meant was that in the standard King/Queen system, one girl gets to be royalty, and one guy gets to be royalty. It's pretty rare that a couple becomes royalty together, so it doesn't seem to me to ...

The way I see it, criminals will always have guns. It's just a matter of whether or not responsible people have the ability to shoot back at them. It's harder to vicitmize people who aren't ready to be victims. Didn't we have a thread a little while back regarding the correlation between strict gun ...

I personally carry 3 7/8" Timberline Wortac knife. It's designed for a fencer style grip as oppose to having the knife situated vertically. The handle is shaped so you don't have to worry about your hand slipping onto the blade. As for needing to dispose of a weapon, I don't see myself in that ...

A bit off subject

The cofffe tax is kind of a funny thing... in order to get money for daycare, they decided to propose another tax, because that's what liberals do. Coffee didn't have a tax focused on it, so they had a vote on it. Turns out that Seattlites consider their morning brew too sacred for special taxation....

The question of taxing seems to come down to is whether a "sin tax" is acceptable or not. In Washington state sin taxes on cigarettes have been embraced with votes for somewhere around 60-65%. In recent elections, sin taxes have received a more resounding 'yes' vote than any other issues, ...
