I would like mention the spirit, intensity and power that was dispalyed by our visitors from both Argentina and Canada.
Surely everyone who demonstrated their kata gave 110% in their efforts.
Certainly it was a high powered group !

Kevin, Great input ! Thank you for your in depth explanation as i agree with a lot of it. However, even though i "understand" it, the responce to conversations and situations still tend to esculate verbally allowing the adrenal to rise slightly as many of us tend to want our veiws to be he...

Visits with Sensei Murphy !
For those who have not had the "opportunity" to visit with Sensei Murphy, weather you be a jujitsu practicioner or uechi-ryu, i suggest that you do. Rescently in the past few months there have been several "Guest" instructors visiting in sharing their individual veiws and opinion...

On the Edge (Verbal or Physical)
Len, "Would you still try to talk your way out of a fight if you were punched first?" To late to talk Lenny. The mix is in place and there is no more talking at that point! "Is there anything you can say that will make them decide that they better not mess with you ?" Lenny, Ther...

Communication perception
As we continue to exchange or thoughts, views and ideas, we often misunderstand the actual meaning and/or intent of others. As many agree, writting on the internet leaves out the opportunity for reading ones body language, facial expression and/or "tone" of ones voice that gives one a bett...

Dead fish kata
Bill, Could it be more simple, in that many people just plain do not put everything into "whatever" they do ? I observe some of my co-workers. Many "never" pick up the pace regardless of how much work needs to get done. At the gym i often see some "leisurely" working wi...

Condolence Call
Thank you guys for your thoughts.
Allen,
Best wishes to you also, as these times are difficult to get through. However, the support of my friends and students and relatives has been very comforting.
Hang in there and "Keep Training" !

Honor, humiliation and avoidance (stolen from Van's Forum)
Len, Not having read through the entire thread i would only say from your first post, "these things will happen!" The second quessing and questioning of how we handle (or should have) certain situations will always come back to haunt us. I have "demons" that occassionally come ba...

It's All Good !
How many times do we hear comments pertaining to what individuals like and dislike in their style ? Some state that "Kata" has no relevence to it's practice because it is not used in fighting. Others feel that pre=arranged drills are bad in that it programs one to do things certain ways. C...

Lenny, I work in retail with the general public. We acknowledge customers with statements such as, hello, can i help you ?, how are you ?,did you find what you need ? etc. etc. Needless to say, some folks are non-responsive to friendliness. Have attitide problems, project superiority complexes and j...

Lenny, I agree with you regarding user names, handles etc. I believe that it is very rare that on these forums we have the problems you note such as derogatory statemnets or direct insult to others through a "hidden" alias. Many know by now that such post or replies are generally "del...

Billy B. I believe that more understanding as to "application" of karate exsist where one will seek it out. Surely one must look into some of the "fundementals" of other systems and see how they may compliment what we study. To expand upon ones knowledge without abandoning the ba...

Uechi Front Kick
Billy B, By rotating the hip into the thrust of the side blade kick, one involves more muscle groups upon the extention of imact "lockout" of the kick. When simply standing with all weight and balance upon the rear leg, it is only the kicking leg that is involved in the "power" b...
