FWIW - when I was on Okinawa I learned that the characters that make up the "kan" are pronounced two ways. Kan is one, hiro is another. Kan is the more southerly pronunciation and hiro is more northern. So Uechi Kansei was also known as Uechi Hirosei. -d Hummmm... Allow me to add 2 notes:...
