Dave Sargent, who has had a dojo in San Jose for many years states on his website that his dojo there was founded in 1973 by Carl Chrappa, a student of Van Canna. I don't know whether this predates Bob Moorman's dojo in San Diego.

Thanks Dana

I appreciate the congrats, but the promotion took place in 2001. The photo you posted is of Hanshi Kyudan Walter Mattson's May 2007 Dan Test Board at Kyoshi Hachidan Peter McRae's dojo, Plymouth MA. Two of my friends pictured therein (Kyoshi Nanadans Bob Rosati and Paul Fenechel) were also tested an...

Hi Dana, Gushi Sensei has instructed me that in Sanchin testing as well as Sanchin Gami (as he prefers to call it), one should be ready to take strikes to (almost) any part of the body at any time. My moving of the neck was not so much stretching as it was to help prepare for his testing of this are...

Brant enjoyed training with Jerry & Paul's fine group in San Diego - as we in Los Alamitos also do. All of Brant's Uechi family mourn the loss of this fine man and s...
