Re: Facing your fears
Haha... Bill I applaud your timing. It is 4 am here in the "Barren Wastelands of New Brunswick" as I battle so many "what ifs". Major changes coming my way with fears I may get caught with my "pants down".

I like how excited he is about the demo. How he opens the kata is of the "old school" has Toyama flavour in it and when done right that... must "jack" one up nicely. The breaking I`m willing to bet was to safely make his students look and feel good. Today with everyone having acc...

Re: Let's go to the video (Toyama Sandairyu)
Would be interesting to watch Toyama sensei perform sanchin. His performance with the "raucous music" is like a rose blooming in the sunlight...is his sanchin the rose unopened? Will every rose bloom exactly the same for every master? By "master" I mean someone who can inspire &q...

GEM Apparently you must know my father in law  Keeping with picking at the Scottish (sorry dad) A young Scottish lad and lass were sitting on a low stone wall, holding hands, gazing out over the loch. For several minutes they sat silently. Then finally the girl looked at the boy and said, &quo...

Kind hearted Scotsman
My wife and I walked past a swanky new restaurant last night.
"Did you smell that food?" she asked. "Incredible!"
Being the nice guy I am, I thought, "What the heck, I'll treat her!"
So we walked past it again.

I'm also a big, big believer that the motion starts at the end of the previous motion, if that makes sense. If I showed you some applications, you'd realize that the 90-degree and 180-degree turns aren't because you want to show the judges the motion from all sides. The turn is part of the movement...

I like Petrovick`s technique (Seiryu) at 1:31, 1:34,1:37 and 1:40
The sinking and compression often not seen in these movements. Maybe a bit more exaggerated than I am going to try, but I understand what his is trying to convey...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPFiUZzapBA

I had the same injury (along with a crushed foot unfortunately) but it took an SUV to do it...need to step up my conditioning  The breaks these fighters suffered kinda freaks me out 8O . When using our body parts as weapons it may be good advice to ensure we "use the right tool for the job...
