I do a lot of variety in partner training. First off I have a line face off against each other and do a kumite. Then everyone steps to the right and gets a new partner. Students on the end change to the other line. Higher ranks work the kumite lower ranks are working on and the size, age, gender etc.. of the partner changes every five minutes. This helps to challenge some and forces the dan ranks to not forget the kyu kata. Another drill is to have a circle, put a student in the middle, and call out a number from dan or kyu kumite for a person the instructor chooses to attack with. This adds a lot of variety and speed, pace variety to the methods. It seems that if you don't try tricks like this the same people partner up class after class. Those who know me know I don't like kumite much so I had to find ways to make it interesting. :D I have a lot of other tricks in my curriculum too.

Good work Frank.

I think you also will remember my defensive concepts being:

1. We deliver a 'weapon' to the target.

2. And we deliver the target to the 'weapon'
