A personal congratulations to Patrick McCarthy

Post by Bill Glasheen »

I'm a "friend" of Patrick McCarthy on Facebook. For those who don't know him, he's a world famous author and expert on traditional martial arts, with "The Bubishi" probably being an all time classic "must have" book.

Sensei McCarthy recently posted a before/after picture on his Facebook page where he's apparently lost a hundred (100) pounds. He went from looking noticeably obese at his worse to looking svelte and fit. The transformation is nothing short of shocking. Patrick's goal is to get down to his former fighting weight of 185 lbs (84 kg) by this spring.

Congratulations to Patrick, and thank you for being such a wonderful example for others. And for the record, your endpoint will put you at my own weight. I welcome you to better health.

The current before/after picture is protected on Facebook

I look forward to sharing some of the first "after" pictures.

good to hear , He needs to be around for a very long time !!!!

I wish he was required reading/training for every karateka who wants to call themselves traditional , it would challenge many folks understanding of the history and efficacy models out there .

Your very articulate for someone who doesn't really speak English! Would have loved to see Wallace vs MacCarthy. The fight against the Bluenoser was a good one.Would have loved to see a herring choker give him some licks too! Now part of me thinks New Brunswick vs Nova Scotia might have bee worth a look. Lots of talent on those shores.

If it comes with paddles and a flotation device it's a boat, if got lots of toes in it it's a boot. Is that what your asking about? Actually if it makes your arse sore and you feel like you have six tonsils it's definitely a boot!

It's always wise to keep a beaver concealed. - especially in a drinking establishment.

I was waiting until I could get a recent photograph of Patrick McCarthy after his personal transformation. I've got one better. You're going to enjoy this.
