what does it mean?
You have to know why you are training and what you are training for. What does that movement do, and why am I doing it.

Sometimes you're doing a movement because there is a literal interpretation - such as the knee thrust in Seisan.fivedragons wrote: What does that movement do, and why am I doing it.
Sometimes the movement isn't stand-alone, but rather a word in a complete sentence - such as the knee thrust in Seisan.
And sometimes you're just working on good mechanics and the flow of energy from one movement to the next - such as the knee thrust in Seisan.
For me, kata aren't storybooks; they're reference books. Sometimes sequences make sense, and sometimes you just want to stick a bunch of important techniques together so you can train them over and over a few thousand times and not get bored.
