How to pick

Post by kc »

I wonder if anyone would question the right, or worthieness of the candidates whom Mr. Mattson had nominated for the rank of 8th Dan originally. My opinion is NO.

I for one have had the displeasure of meating on of those so called 10th Dans "founder of his own system of Martial Art" who had to present "his system" to a board to have it "certified". I watched this member of the World Martial Art Hall of Fame be promoted from 7th Dan to 10th Dan in a matter of about 3 months. Now this would, I'm sure be ignored and shunned by the real world martial arts community (if there really is one). I'm also quite sure that no matter how many people from Uechi-Ryu were promoted to 8th Dan in one year, nobody would look them the way I and many others looked at this "man".

Hi Everyone,

I posted a question on Steve D.'s Martial Arts history forum this morning regarding rank structure. Please read it and comment, at your leisure.

Thanks,

Gene
