Revised Okinawan Master's Tour

Post by gmattson »

Here is the latest update on the USA Tour. If you are lucky enough to be near one of the seminar sites, be sure to participate. GEM

I just returned from Okinawa and we have a final slate of teachers coming to teach in the USA during May. For full information on dates, locations, times and information of the Traditional Okinawan Karate/Kobudo World Championships you can access ( http://members.tripod.com/karate_seminar ) for up to date information and chat room.

Teachers on the Tour:

Shuguro Nakazato, 10th Dan, Shorinkan Shorin Ryu (Chibana style Shorin Ryu) Manoru Yonamine, 9th Dan, ShorinKan Shorn Ryu Bentoku Ifuku, 8th Dan, ShorinKan Shorin Ryu Ryuko Tomoyose, 10th Dan, Shohei Ryu (Uechi Ryu) Meitatsu Yagi, 10th Dan, Goju Ryu, Meibukan Zenpo Shimabukuro, 9th Dan, Seibukan Shorin Ryu (Kyan Style) Tsuyoshi Uechi, 8th Dan, Isshinryu (New President of the Isshin Ryu assn. on OKinawa)

Each teacher will be teaching elements of their on ryu ha. Ifuku sensei will be teaching Kobudo with emphasis on the bo.

We will be having seminars in Atlanta on May 8th, Orlando on May 9th, Washington,D.C. on May 12th, Houston on May 15th and San Jose on May 16th.

All ranks, ages and styles are invited to attend these seminars. I encourage all to come so that we will encourage these great Okinawan teachers to attend.

The USANKF is a joint sponsor of the Atlanta event and discounts are available to USANKF members. The AAU is co-sponsoring the event in Orlando and discounts are available to AAU members.

The USANKF has a Okinawan style kata competition this year and I ask that all Okinawan stylist participate in this competition at the state and national level. The more competitiors we have gives us a voice in the competition and the kata that we perform. The traditional kata of the Okinawans schools are acceppted in lieu of the WKF ****ei list.

Please contact, Dan Smith, 770-844-1832 (voice or fax) and e-mail (<A HREF="mailto:ussska@aol.com">ussska@aol.com</A>) for any information on the seminar tour or USANKF competition.
