2 Day Pekiti Tirsia Stickfighting Seminar W/Tuhon Bill McGra

Post by david »

This passed on to me by Jack Bernard, a local PT practitioner/instructor. Folks in the Boston area may be interested in this upcoming stickfighting seminar with Tuhon McGrath. Very talented instructor with a professional background as NY state corrections officer and tactical trainer. I've been to his all day seminars. Prepare to work and sweat. You'll get your money's worth.

David,
Many thanks for the tip! I have all of the PT tapes offered by Tuhon Mcgrath. He's something else to say the least. When is the date for this event? Please don't say THIS weekend as I am already commited to helping out at the Ocean State Grandnationals.
Thanks,
Raf

Do you need to have experience to attend one of these seminars? I have No experience with any weapons work, but want to get into it. Stick fighting interests me because of the two person flow drills they do. It looks like a lot of fun, and I was thinking it might help me with my empty hand sparring as well. Don't want to waste my money or get the snot kicked out of me though!

Raffi,

OOOOPs! The dates are May 20 and 21, when I am away at Keating's. The 20th is also the same Saturday of the Uechi tourney. So you Uechi folks SHOULD JUST DO SUNDAY, after competing in the tourney on Saturday! Image

BillyB,

You don't need prior experience but it works better if you bring a partner you know who can and will work with you after the seminar. Or take copious notes and immediately go back and work with a partner on the drills afterwards while they are fresh. My understanding is that in some of the past stick workshops, there have been some sparring for those interested. But it's probably a self selection thing and not part of the class. Also, if the class has a lot of beginners, there may not be any sparring at all. You never know with seminars... Do call Jack to find out more info if you're interested.

Looks to be an exciting weekend!

David, Thanks for the info. I will be hard to do that the day after the tourney, but I will try.
Billy B- If you are interested in learning the Filipino art of sticks and knives, give me a call. My school is in R.I., don't know how far that is for you. If you are interested, e mail me at Xraff@aol.com
We'd be happy to have you in our Kali program.
