It's all right
It's all right
it's all right
if i fall
i'm just human
afterall
but it hurts
when i land
and realize i need
a helping hand
it's ok
to start again
doesn't make me
less of a man
when i'm cut
i still bleed
have to admit
that i still need
it's just fine
crying at night
pull up the covers
hide from sight
cover the scars
the best i can
it's ok to just
start again
i'd rather die
than continue to fight
then decide if i fall
it's all right

Adversity doesn't define the man. How he handles it does.

Thanks for the great replies...
I've been up and down (who hasn't).
I go to the dojo and I'm not the person I was before. I'm out of shape (not really, "round" is technically a shape), get out of breath, no stamina, no speed, no power, zero flexibility, the only thing that ***** more than my kata are my stances... everything hurts.
Then I go in to see Margaret Chojin and have her "put me back together". Sometimes, I'm really excited that it doesn't hurt as much and I'm making the effort. Then other times I feel like it's no good, no use, like it's all over since... I got hurt. That's when I write things like that.
david-san, I'm trying to handle things... thanks.
Steinmann-san, does it count against you when it seems to take forever to get back up? Sometimes, I feel like it does...
Jackie-tomodachi, I'm not dead yet, just sometimes wondering how close I am...
But, it's all right,
when you have friends...

Panther: Having had my own share of ups and downs (who hasn't?), I would say: Sure!
Sometimes, you need to take the standing eight count before you get back in the game.
As my father frequently says: "Don't let the turkey's get you down".
Be well!

The french say "petit a petite" -- little by little.
The smaller the steps the more triumphant the journey.

Thanks Dana...
Sometimes I think if the steps get any smaller I'll just lay back down! Seriously, things are looking up for me as far as getting back into shape and back on the path...

Dear Dana ...
I'll have to make "little by litte" part of my way of life! Good reminder to me.
Panther, I hear you ... this has been one frustrating year. I've said that each round or circle of black belt brings a new challenge. As I'm on my 3rd to 4th ... I realize for me the challenge continues to be to relax, go slow, and stay with it when my health/body permits.
This downtime has give me much opportunity for meditation, examining kata, and really thinking about ki/energy and the flow of that energy through our bodies for healing.
Best wishes for your healing.
