Contemplation/Meditation
Have you ever noticed
That nature reserves
The times of sunrise and sunset
For contemplation?
On these occasions
The winds are stilled -
The lake's surface
Is quieted to a glassy smoothness -
Even the leaves relax
Into heightened sensitivity
As the glory of dawn unfolds.
And have you observed
That the stillness of the water
Magnifies the beauty of sunset -
Making of that half
Above the horizon
A completed whole?
There is a reflective surface
In the depths of your being
Which is more cunningly contrived
Than the simple liquid place of the lake.
And if you learn
To still the winds of action
In your mind,
This mirror will reflect
Such beauty and peace and understanding
As the lake never sees
And words cannot tell.

May I be filled with loving kindness
May I be well
May I be peaceful and at ease

Much of what go on around our lives can be chaotic, sometimes akin to a raging storm. But even the storm has an "eye", around which everything flies. Find the the center, find the "eye" in everyday life.
An aside, "A Path With Heart" by Jack Kornfield is a wonderful book filled with "meta."
