"The Kata"
Master Tsutomu Nakahodo
The kata holds the key to your studies. Study everyday, very slow and a little bit at a time. Study very hard when you are with your teacher at their dojo. Listen when they tell you of very small things, as these keys are very very deep and very hidden. Karate is technique, speed and power. Knowledge is most important in all these areas which can not exsist without sanchin...sanchin hole the key to spirit...sanchin is in all your studies.

Found this quote that made me think ...
The ancient Masters were profound & subtle.
Their wisdom was unfathomable.
There is no way to describe it;
all we can describe is their appearance.
Do you have the patience to wait
till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving
till the right action arises by itself?

Kata
When first I learned,
I moved poorly
legs and arms like blocks of wood later battered
When next I learned
Power was in anger
or force
or in pushing away the hurts of the world
When next I learned came balance,
concentration and true power
in the flow of the natural
movements of my body
directed by my mind
When next I learned
there was kata
no mind
no thought
no movement
Just kata.
Being.
Living.
The beginning of Knowledge.
