As Good As The Build Up...

Post by david »

Kin's MMA match with another local fighter was seriously being built up...

http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sport ... -amateurs/

At the end of the night, it was deemed by the (? judges) promoter as the "Fight of the night." I didn't go and can't judge the fight against the other 23 fights on the card. I finally got to watch someone's (not so great) video of it. It was a pretty exciting fight. The official video will hopefully provide better camera work and more detail.

Kin said his confidence in his :"ground game" makes his stand up game that much better (he considers himself more of a striker). The fight went up and down a number of times.

Will post a link for the video (if and when it gets released by the promoter, or a good one by an audience member).

You must be very proud of Kin.

He is very, very good and has the heart of a warrior.

Please congratulate him for me and let him know all his Uechi friends are rooting for him.

David,

The "other local guy" is actually from my camp. He is a tough, tough, kid. I knew going into this fight that he was in for a war.

I haven't had a chance to watch the fight yet, but with those two in there, I'm not shocked that they earned fight of the night. I imagine they'll both go far!

George - his early involvement in summer camp and a couple of uechi tournies certainly cemented his interest in training. I am happy that likes putting effort into something that challenges him. He is mentally "tough" which when combined with his effort make him a tough kid physically.

Jake - Kin certainly was training hard leading up to the match and giving due respect for DT's rep. Once in the ring, he banged hard and hoped/let the training carry. It was a good match.
