Post your Sanchin Kata Video here

Post by Rick Wilson »

Hi all:

I thought I would start a thread where everyone who is willing (and techno able) can post a link to their Sanchin Kata video.

I think Marcus is right that there is not enough Sanchin demos and seeing the variations out there would be useful.

So to recap the ones already posted:

Marcus’:

Laird’s:

Rick’s

Okay now it is up to the rest of you to post.

:D

I've always liked Ricks Seichin. I find it interesting how quickly Ricks martial arts evolve. I don't get up north often enough and am always surprised to see the degree of evolution in Ricks martial arts. The man is always testing and exploring what he does. He is a pleasure to train with!
Hats off to you Rick!

Here it is, some may find it different

Please be advised folks if you like any video I put up save it to your hard drive for future reference. My web site is too small to host to many large files for extended periods. I usually delete them after a few weeks.

Good idea, Rick.

Got an idea where someone has the disk space to post?

Hi:

Bill: Sorry no idea. My site is very limited for space, hence only having Sanchin loaded up on it.

Alan: The link didn’t work for me unfortunately. :(

Okay folks I made a business decision and just decided to spend some money to upgrade my web site.

I will now have some space to post Kata video clips.

What I am proposing is if people want to PM me for my mailing address they can send me a CD of with the clips of their Kata. If you cannot make a CD then put it on VHS tape and I can up load it.

I will then have my techno-wizard daughter create a “Guest Kata” spot and I will upload guest Kata for two weeks to a month (depending on demand). People can view and download.

My daughter says it should be updated in 24 hours or so, then it is just catching her on her busy schedule.

So if you are interested in having your Kata put up on the web and the link posted to this forum send me a PM.

:D

Canna Sensei:

Thank you for your kind words about my kata.

While my friend Will and I muddle our way through the Go Kyu Kumite (more my muddle than Will's) on this video, we find it very enjoyable to practice (though it should be performed much closer, much faster, much stickier, with more flow, and much stronger). My teacher developed the kumite.

Congratulations to your teacher. I like the "in close" challenge..something I believe in for true defensive applications.

Hope to see you at camp.

I agree with Canna sensei that Rob has an awesome seisan. I am very impressed by the jump.

I was also very impressed with the Bo kata.

Rick , I love your Seichin

very fluid and internal , I see some big retractions in places , which is kind of interesting , Is this a focus less on a strike and more on a draw ?

I`m enjoying all your kata , I can see some big differences amoungst them and which ones youve been working on more , but this is just my perspective .

Interesting were your going , looking forward to working with you , hoping to post some more of mine soonish , and another Sanchin with changes in a little while .
