Videos & Media Player 7

Post by iac1 »

Tony,

I recently set up a new Dell Pentium 4 system with Netscape 6 and Mediaplayer 7.
When I tried running the videos I got an error message that implied the videos weren't set up to be viewed with the software.

Have you run into this on other
systems? Is there anything I can do to make it work?

Thanks,

Mike Herrmann

Mike,
You may not have the required codecs in your machine to run the streaming videos (.asf files which are run from the .asx files.) Since mediaplayer is MS I would suggest loading up IE then try running the videos. IE should then automatically connect you to their server and load in the required codecs. Once you have these in your machine there should be no reason to keep using IE if you choose not to.

I noticed this happened (loading the codecs) the very first time I ran a MS streaming video.

Let me know how it goes.

Scott
