Hi Tony.

You are absolutely right about ISPs, they should. And Mr Klez is particularly bad, spreading faster than AIDS. All anyone interested in Klez need to do is perform a Google search.

The other thing that's been happening of late is that ZoneAlarm has been stopping a lot of unusual activity from getting in as well. Even though I returned to modem usage, I keep ZoneAlarm up.

Tony,

I get several Klez' aday as well. This has been going of for at least as long this post started. Today, I've started getting them "from" some of my Uechi friends as well.

This means that someone, not necessarily the sender, has his mailbox affected -- now, at the moment I write this riposte. I'm not sure what's going on, but this one has a reputation for being particularly bad.

Tread carefully with statements written like that. It may be good or it may be trying to ****** you in, but I wouldn't trust it unless I knew exactly where that goodie came from, Van.

I downloaded a Klez eliminator from someplace in the web, but never used it. Norton does ok, although it's a pain in the rump to still get that $hit in the email. It must be making the rounds, because lately the "senders" are almost always Uechi people known by me.

OUCH -- urge all to NOT OPEN this "tool" -- it's another sneaky nasty way to
infect your computer! This is a hoax. Accept virus properties definitions,
specifics, and tools ONLY from your recognized and authorized AV source or
AV Center.

Norton can and does detect and eliminate Klez, so does MacAfee and most
others. Almost all centers offer free download tools to eradicate the worm
from your machine -- though if you didn't have AV protection to begin with
and are just installing, it may be a bit complicated to get rid of. If
you've been faithfully updating your AV, there should be no problem.

Don't open such messages as "A powful tool" (note misspelling), or "a most
excite game", or "a Win98 patch for you" etc... Open NOTHING from any
unrecognized source, or even if spoof-mailed to you from a friend's computer
(check with that friend and ask).

Seems there is something for free in this world after all. Viruses...
