a brief definition of a good Karate person

Post by Dana Sheets »

Once when asked for a brief definition of a good Karate
person, Osensei Shoshin Nagamine replied: "Kisshu fushin,
Oni te hotoke kokoro." A demon's hand; a saint's heart.

that quote, written in japanese gave me a little chuckle.
Oni are often known for not being that bright.
an old Oni trap would be a box with a hole in it and when the Oni puts his hand in to get the prize inside he cant get his hand out, not realizing that if he let go of the prize he could easily remove his hand.

so the quote says Oni hand,
saints heart,
but who's mind does he get?? lol
