IUKF and the Uechi-Ryu Karate-Do Association

Post by willh44 »

What is the difference between the IUKF and the Uechi-Ryu Karate-Do Association? Is it politics only or are there differences in teaching style, methods, and/or what is taught.

Some organizations are political, but most are fraternal in nature. At last count (a few years ago) a friend on Okinawa said their were at least 26 groups that could be considered "Associations".

Many of the 26 groups were created because of conflicts between the founders of these organizations. Some, unfortunately, don't do anything for their members but sell them certificates.

IUKF has become one of the major "newage" associations in the martial arts. . . Fraternal in nature and created to serve the membership with activities, communications and friendship. And. . . is open to all Uechi practitioners. . .

Based on its growing membership, IUKF must be doing something right.
