BANGKOK, Thailand — Physical and sexual violence against women is extremely common — most often by their partners — and many women believe it is acceptable for a man to beat his wife if she disobeys or refuses sex, according to a World Health Organization report released Thursday.

The WHO's first multi-country study on violence against women found that in the 10 countries surveyed, the percentage of women who had been physically or sexually abused at least once ranged from 20% to 75%. About 24,000 women were interviewed for the study in Bangladesh, Brazil, Ethiopia, Japan, Namibia, Peru, Samoa, Serbia and Montenegro, Thailand and Tanzania.

In most survey sites, "four out of five abused women were abused by their partners," said Geneva-based Henrica Jansen, one of the study's researchers.

"Women are more at risk at home than in the streets," Jansen said at a news conference in Bangkok.

The report found that more than three-quarters of women in cities in Brazil, Japan, Namibia and Serbia and Montenegro said violence was never justified, but only a quarter thought so in rural areas of Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Peru and Samoa.

In all sites surveyed, the most widely accepted justification for violence was infidelity.

Let us begin with the assumption that violence is bad and apply that assumption across both genders (men and women).

Thus, violence against women and violence against men are both bad.

Since we already made the assumption (without saying so) that:

women are the ones most likely to be physically abused and done so most often by their spouse, partner, boyfriend (read male),

There is no need to even ask men if they have been physically abused.

If he was abused by women, we would probably blame him for it.......dont you know all men are bad.....and no man can be trusted (so say the feminist protectors)......

Here is the world health organization (WHO) trying to ascertain the level of spousal (domestic) abuse occurring overseas and they don’t even bother to look for abuse of men by their spouses, partners, girlfriends…………

Thus, the problem of domestic abuse is a women’s issue because if it happened to a man, we wouldn’t even bother to look………

I ask you, if a man is beaten in the woods and the feminists don’t hear him scream, did it really happen?!?!?!?!?!?

This is a philosophical question of some import here boys…….you are being beaten and the world health organization doesn’t give a shiite……..

I am surprised they even bothered to ask why the women had been beaten.......Who cares why the women were beaten?

I thought there was no excuse for domestic abuse....so, they just asked that question why???????

perhaps to avoid the important questions like how many men are beaten by their wives, spouses, girlfriends, etc..........

While we pretend that we have proven that men are more violent…..we haven’t proven anything, but merely hid our heads in the sand from the truth……The emporer has no clothes and we all afraid to say anything....
