who needs proof when you have a good conspiracy theory,,,,,,,,,,

what these games need is a little deconstructing...........



and they wonder why there has been so little viewing of this year's games?????!?!?!?!?!

they rarely show us events, but spend the vast amount of time interviewing and back to the commercial........

in the old days, it was "back to our show", while nowadays it is more like, "back to the commercials" with an occassional event thrown in for good measure and constantly interrupted by a talking head with little of substance to say.......and i have heard that that might be one of the causes of global warming.......offgasing at the olympics.....lots of hot air and no substance

AH, Shani Davis... who had to walk the gauntlet of his Chicago neighborhood being taunted for his Bonnie Blair shirt and for not playing basketball or football.

What kind of will must a man (or mother) like that have to persevere and succeed at the level he did?

Probably the same kind of will that a boy interested in bird watching would have. Been there, done that. "Real men" don't do birdwatching, or so I was led to believe on the ballfield.

In any case, it probably explains the "attitude" that others perceived Shani to have. Basically he was driven by his internal compass almost to a fault - a trait that we all should admire. Too many kids are heavily shaped by what their peers do, and not by what might personally interest them or what they might be good at. This has been a tough lesson to sell to my older son. Meanwhile, the younger one seems to go his own way - something that will serve him well.

Ever wonder why kids do drugs? It's a good reason to teach kids self esteem, and a sense of what is right vs. what is popular.
