Front side power

Hitting hard from the front side hand tends to be difficult for many people. They tend to treat it like a jab in boxing. Many do not use their front hand for anything other then grabbing or pushing. To strike fast and hard from the front side puts you in a great position. Your front side is always the closest to the bad guy. To be able to explode that front hand from a short distance is a gigantic advantage. Have a look at this front side arcing strike. Hope you put it in your striking drills with the mitts. -----Happy Trails -----Art

Here I am teaching the front side power at a fighting seminar at Tracy Rose's Dojo in Northborough Massachusetts. This is just a section of the seminar, but an important one. This front side strike is tough to do while simply sparring, because it is very difficult to control. However, if you want to slam one to the head while actually fighting, this is one you want to be able to do. Have a look.--Happy Trails---Art

One of the best fighting techniques is to strike off that hard kick (actually a shin thrust). The strike comes off the same side as the striking leg. I'm doing it nice and easy here for safety purposes, but I believe you can see the result. You can open this up using the heavy bag for practice. You can really feel the power of these two strikes using the bag. Body mechanics play a major role in delivering this kick - punch (or open hand). You will have to spend some time practicing this one. -----Happy Trails ----Art

You are really coming hard with this technique. It happens very fast. It is this speed that makes this two strike delivery tough to handle, He just might get an arm on that leg thrust, but here comes that open hand almost as the leg hits. Tough to stop both the leg and then the head shot. Good thing to be able to strike right off that same side. It is very fast and hits real hard.
