Crescent Limbs + Power Base = Explosion

Post by Art Rabesa »

Limbs must remain slightly bent when hitting. Both the arm or leg ,stay slightly bent to impact. Sanchin's power base must be set. There is a torquing of the body at impact. All this will take lots of practice. There will be lots of pushing of the strikes at first. Everything must come together for success. Striking in this manner will enable you to hit very hard from very close. Have a look at some hand strikes, and leg thrusts to detect this. May look easy. When you begin to practice this method, you'll find that it will take some time. Once you get it, you will be like a kid with a new toy.

Attach this link to the post above please. This is the shin thrust. A real nasty strike that will take out a leg quickly. Can only practice this one on the heavy bag placed on the floor. If I were given only one strike to use, it would be this one. Leg remains in a crescent position all the way to impact. BANG!!!! ----Happy Trails ----Art

Something from a seminar here. Showing the crescent arm at impact. All martial artists know that limbs should not be locked when striking. However, that means nothing without the one piece movement into impact. Coordination of the entire body is needed here. To come to the impact zone with everything moving and stopping at the same time. As I move around the dojo checking the arm at impact, plus the body mechanics, better hitting is taking place. Sliding the power base of sanchin through the one piece movement, and hitting with a crescent arm equals a good bang. It's amazing what this does to students when they feel the power of their strike. I had one say, "wow, where'd that come from?" Nothing succeeds like success. Once you get this down, you will not strike any other way.------Happy Trails----Art
