Karate really for me?

Two hours of intensive and hard training everyday, in time, will have a dramatic effect.

I have been doing this and more, for 20 plus years.

Have faith in yourself Image

Lurking...at a Dojo!

When I was young I used to visit the new schools as they popped up. The whole reason I went was to make sure that the school I was in was not surpassed in its standards.

a question for woman martial artist

I believe in equality woman train for similar reasons we do. If she into training treat her the same. To do less assumes she is less than a man. When I was a 1st Kyu way back when. We had a 3rd Dan by the name of Helen Wong and she was brilliant. A great Karate-Ka and I think it would have been an i...

Molded Black Belts !

I love my style which is basically Shotokan. My biggest objections is the manner in which they train. Yes they train and extremely hard. No complaints about that. I just feel it needs to be modernised along with the research that has been in the last 25 years. So rather than crumble I build my ideas...

Entering the low stance

I am not sure what stance you mean but I feel that entering a stance is best done by the toes and if your toe slips your heal will stop you losing balance. I find if you go heal first and if it slips theres nothing left to hold you standing up unless you grab something. Walking down a steep slippery...

Why people do that baffles me. Wooing a woman is no different than how non-pressure professional sales people close a sales.

People need to learn how to communicate to get others involved in things

Roll Models & Mutual Respect

I think its very important. Imagine training people over many years who become quite skilled and dextrous and they have learnt arrogance, lawlesness and maybe even evil from arrogant lawless teachers? It would bring shame of the art and no doubt some innocent people could be hurt or maybe even kille...

Proud of Martial Artists

As some of you know I have been training for 28 years (no mean feat) and as I look back I have met some wonder and kind people in the martial arts. I also think the manner in which people conduct themselves on this forum is something that must be noticed and commented on. I find the people here cour...
