 theres just to many wasted brains around to be in need of building more . I`m all for recycling   So true! But along the lines of the thread, here are a few links to works being done to fuse brain cells with computer chips and create some real "intelligence". I'm sure Glas...

UMMMMMM. I just did a check and we live in a VERY SMALL community. A development of about 100 or so townhouses. And looking at this map showed an offender in our neighborhood. Now, I'm not big on over reacting, and I'm not sure what to say. All I can say is that I'm shocked. (probably shouldn't be) ...

Doug Bleecker is the Sensei in Roanoke whose name vanished from my memory. He or Barnard Sensei would be great to train with.

Tom, Bill, Thanks guys, I knew Dana was up there but I didn't know DC was Uechi dense. I'll find out where he's looking. Mike I wouldn't say we're Uechi dense. Compared to Boston, and some other areas, we don't have much, but we have some great folks in the DC area, and our numbers of high quality ...

Just ask! There was a time when he told me he'd teach it to me. It's no biggie. He just took pieces and parts of existing Uechi forms and strung together a long one. Plus he added in a little bit of "Nestor attitude" in the performance. Nestor is one of the best in the business at attitud...

Mike, Glasheen Sensei is right. Traffic is horrible and worse every day. If I'm not mistaken, you're in Northern Va. Folta Sensei teaches at Oak Marr, Cub Run and South Run Rec Centers. I know there is also a group in Falls Church. If you're in DC or Md as Glasheen Sensei said, there are other group...

Barnard Sensei (Nidan) is teaching at Virginia Tech which isn't too far from you. He has a small group there, and teaches with one Folta Sensei's Shodan's. There is also another Black Belt in that area that works with him, but I can't recall his name right now. If you send me a PM with your e-mail, ...

Re: Thanks John..

I was hoping to get more contributions regarding what kind of things to include in a public demo. . . things that would trigger a "...got to do that" reaction from the crowd. When you have been doing something as long as I've been practicing and teaching karate, it is difficult to know wh...

I don't know... I guess maybe it's an issue of keeping up with the Jones. We teach a Fuzhou Suparinpei at camp, I put together a form for my Renshi title (38 Special), and Nestor Folta (student of Kanmei) starts winning tournaments over here with his own choreographed "super Uechi" kata. ...

Glasheen Sensei, I'm not a basketball fan, but my son loves all sports and as bad as the Caps are we just couldn't watch them a few weeks ago, so he put on the Tech/UVa game. Did you see that one? I have to admit it was a great game, which says a lot from someone who doesn't like B-ball. Anyway, it ...

Bikers vs. Christian Whackos From another forums: I tend to like bikers although I seldom agree with their politics. Just a thought. Most "bikers" are not the lawless rebel types we normally think of. And most folks riding Harley's are the opposite, usually well educated, well off RUBs (R...

Re: Knees, not as simple as they seem

I was reading about, yes, knees ... and found them a bit more complicated than I thought. I think most of us have an image of a simple hinge, which works for most of knee action; but there is also axial rotation about the shin. It's best illustrated by taking the weight off you leg, bending it abou...

Here is an interesting article on Boyington's most famous Corsair, #86 "Lulubelle" (although there apparently is some discrepancy that its name may have been "Lucybelle") http://www.acepilots.com/usmc_boyington3.html Actually the whole site is interesting, "American Aces of...

Did it come out? I heard something about the first season. But I'm not sure where.
