We use quite a few physics tricks at school to impress the students. One of the best shows how tough we are. Here is Mr. Physics himself about to sacrifice his body to science... In this trick I place a 4" cement block on my abdomen while lying on a bed of nails. The nails and the cement block ...

it makes no sense for me to buy now You said it. Hybrids make no sense except for show. They do not need to be perfected to get to a pure fuel cell driven machine. They are a waste of time and money that should be focused not on incremental improvements but the 'home run' of a hydrogen based energy...

Oh my... There's that battery and regen thing again I do not care who makes it, the hybrid is an interim technology that I do not get excited about. The market is those folks that want to be 'green' or to look involved in saving the earth from man made global warming. Even with gas at $3.00 a gallo...

Exactamundo!! Only... we don't piss the energy away, and it's automatic. We recapture some of the energy of movement when we brake. This is true, but you can only store as much energy as the battery is rated for. Then it is just like a conventional system except you are wearing down the alt or gen ...

Nice car. I have read about it. I have also read somewhere about a fuel cell version with no regen by another company. I'll have to do some research. And it comes with a top-of-the-line set of discs brakes to back them up. No, not as backup. They are there to supply braking and insure it at lower sp...

No (none, zero, zilch) batteries are overcharged in a regen system, or a conventional auto battery system with an alternator for that matter. Why are you bringing this up? This is crazy! This too is generations old technology. You miss the whole idea here. There is a regulator on or in the alternat...

With zero speed, nothing needs to be braking. I guess you have never been stopped on a hill. Where do you live? You'll have to go tell that to Professor Emeritus Dr. Jones. He'll get a kick out of that. Actually I would enjoy that. One thing that I found out living in the real world of engineering ...

Oh my... There's that regen thing again. And do I see them implying that it's < ahem > superior to conventional brakes? That may be true at high speeds, however a serious lack of knowledge and understanding of electrical rotating machines is evident. Friction brakes do wear out with use but have on...

This is for my friend Rich, who had myriad friendly arguments with me over the years about the nature of a fuel cell vehicle. Among other things, I argued that hybrids were a stepping stone to fuel cell vehicles. I always agreed that the hybrids were a stepping stone and that is exactly my issue wi...

Holy cow, look at that Box Score . Well, every team can have a bad day now and then... Devin Moore rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown, and had 47 yards receiving, as Wyoming beat Virginia 23-3 on Saturday in both teams' season opener. The Cowboys (1-0) dominated on defense, holding the Cavaliers ...
