MikeK- reply
MikeK this equation is really something that speaks for itself. There are MANY experienced martial artists out there - there exerpeince only lies within their own art and if it is an experienced MMA fighter then the only related experience is what was borrowed or taken from the style they learned an...

Here is an interesting question. What determines your own skill level. Well the two main parts which determine your skill level are real world experience, and training within that field. If one is very experienced then his skill level is only high in the situations their experience placed them in. I...

Your so right!
Over the last 20 years we have seen many different ways to disarm an attacker – Some are ego based, some are fiction and some even worked at one time, or just for the moment. I find it amazing when after we show the one we have used to save our own life there is always others trying to defend their ...

How hard do you really hit!
As George mentioned I am on the road a lot and traveling a great part of this year both here domestically and internationally. A few months ago, I recently had a conversation with a student who is in own right is a real warrior. He is from Singapore and has been a fighter for the last 14 years and i...

A Real fight - The fight we are talking about is a fight for their life in the reality of the world we live in! No rules- Anything applies, biting, eye gouging, choking, spitting, clawing, hair pulling, groin striking; Weapons if they have them, or can get access to them either conventional or uncon...

Re: OK...
I guess the skill of the people "D" fought would also be an important factor. However, being in the military would rule out many of his possible physical limitations and I don't think his fights would have been with little ol ladies in a nursing home. I'll stick with my answer. ----------...

Re: I think this is a rather easy exercise Dave...
The guy who has "survived" the most fights is the guy I'd like to have as my backup. Good exercise though and I hope my answer is wrong! :) ----------------------------------------------------- George, This was a trick question to start off with, as only one part of the equation was menti...

THE ONLY WRONG ANSWER IS ONE you do not voice!
4 opponents stand across from each other. Opponent A - is well skilled in his style of fighting but has never been in a fight in his life, has been in martial arts tournaments (won some and lost some), and is a daily practioner of his weapons, physically fit, attends various schools yearly and when ...

Did he mention (or did you ask?) if any of his students had used the tactic in a real altercation?

Van here is a good way of looking at it!
There are ALWAYS things you can do on your own, but some of it is only done with and through a professional that has both the field experience who can give you the technical knowledge and tactical applications that will work. NOT someone who has one without the other, and there are many out there w...

Training or Trying hard?
At the end of a long class while setting up for the following day, I noticed a man dressed in a gee stretching out near a body bag, then taking his time to strike the bag in a slow form speed several times, then after a few strikes he would stop, stretch out again, and then continue this routine for...
