In my t'ai ch'i class, there is a couple who have a young son. They joke about him having so many months experience in t'ai ch'i, partly in utero. I wouldn't be surprised. So sad that we don't teach children this naturally. I wasa clumsier-than-average child, with bad posture, etc. My dad tried to c...

Don't credit me, please; I found it elsewhere. I just wish I could remember where so I could cite the source.

Anyone?

Wow. . . That's exactly what I did. Mind you, I wasn't hit with fists or belts, but hit with words. But at a garage sale, I picked up George Leonard's book, The Ultimate Athlete. I fell in love with that idea of power, that presence alone could prevent fights. I fell in love with power -- not power ...

Good question. I can see your dilemma. I train and am not diabetic, my husband doesn't train and is (type I), and has a pump. The leg straps came to mind, but sometimes there are exercises where you get kicked in the thigh. I wonder if there are straps large enough to wrap around the torso so the pu...

T'ai Ch'i?

Hope this is the right place to post the question.

I just started t'ai ch'i. Has anyone else taken up t'ai ch'i in addition to their regular Uechi practice?

Similarities? Differences? Did one benefit the other? Add a new dimension?

The quality of your counting

During warm-ups and during practice, I notice the quality of people's counting -- is it soft, loud, tentative, aggressive, forceful, fast, slow, etc.?

Does anyone else do this?

I think there's much to tell about the quality of a person from the quality of their counting and their kiai.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking it's not a bad idea to have a pre-rehearsed excuse/behaviour to get out of uncomfortable/potentially bad situations. How often do we do things we don't want to out of politeness? So. . . how do you get out of this gracefully? Not entering an elevator with someone else, or exiting before...

Heh. When it comes to the mundane details of life maintenance, INFPs are typically completely unaware of such things. They might go for long periods without noticing a stain on the carpet, but carefully and meticulously brush a speck of dust off of their project booklet. I work as, well, basically a...

If you post a link to the site, folks can look at your source code and see what might be wrong.

Otherwise, it's hard to speculate.

From my newbie, connect-the-dots perspective, I have read that touching the tongue to the roof of the mouth forms a bridge (referred to as the "magpie bridge") between the Yin than goes up the back and the Yang that goes down the front. This is how I've been taught to breathe. Inhale throu...

Taking care of karate feet?

Another night at the dojo and the skin on my feet is sore from practice on hardwood floors.

How do you take good care of your feet, aside from the obvious washing and nail-clipping?

When I was still in the States, I made the Red Cross issue me a new blood donor card without my Soc number. I had one credit card company have the audacity to ask *me* for my card number after calling me to find out why I cancelled my card. When companies call me, I always tell the person I'd be gla...
