Sokuto Geri/ Side Kick
This may have been discussed before on these forums, but a search found nothing. Does any one know the origin of the Uechi Sokuto geri/ side kick? This kick is not found in any of the original three Chinese forms. Was this introduced by Uechi Kanei, Sensei, and the other seniors of our system, or di...

Tomoyose
Does any one have any information on Ryuyu Tomoyose? There is not alot out there. Its as if he has been erased from Uechi history. Being Kanbun's first student, it is surprising so little is written about him. Also, how much if any, did his son Ryuko Tomoyose trained with his father. Any info will b...

Hey Bill and Dana, Thanks for the invite, and I would love to share all I have with you. I plan on widening my Uechi horizons by visiting others around the country and world. Starting with SummerFest. We have 50 base techniques, and most of them have an A. B and C. version. I am still deciding on wh...

Goshin waza
Here in Atlanta our dojo is made up of mostly women. After months of hojo undo, kyu kumite, conditioning and katas. I felt that something was missing. I could see in my students eyes that although they got a great workout, and learned some basic self defense from kyu kumite and kata bunkai. They wer...

Coronal suture.....
Bill, could this be the target in the kata seisan? When your attacker goes for the single/double leg take down. You strike with the knee followed by shokens. Do you see this as viable, or is the angle wrong. It is not a downward angle, but you could generate enough power from you legs to do the tric...

coronal suture.....(C.S.)
Bill, is the C.S. the weakest part of that region of the skull? If I was able to penetrate this area. What type of damage would my opponent experience. possible hemorrhage, death, sweeling.unconsciousness? I know that there are easier targets...eyes,ears,throat, etc.....I think we all know about the...

Bill, With your vast knowledge of the human body. Why not put together a manual of Uechi ryu fundamental Anatomy. Its something I have always wanted to do. I am just a novice when it comes to anatomy, but have some knowledge about where to srike someone. Most of it of course come from my Jujutsu ins...

Note: Knee walking was only performed inside a place of importance ie. a palace, in front of the emperor, or high ranking officials. It was usallly performed on tatami . Most schools of jujutsu in Japan do not practice this art. The Daito ryu Aiki Jujutsu, being known as an inside the palace art, ha...

Beautiful ukemi... The aikido being demostrated is the yoshin style I believe. It resemble the early look, or pre war Aikido that was known to be quite brutal. It was called at that time Ueshiba ryu aikijujutsu then aikijutsu then I believe aikibudo. It has in the past few decades started to resembl...

Ukemi really has no set way of teaching. I USALLY start my students on their knees. When they are comfortable I 'll start them from the standing position. However, all students are not a like. Therefore, tailor your teaching to that student's particular body type. Here are a few pointers that might ...
