Forgive me for being obtuse, but what does that have to do with a discussion over securing weapons when not carrying them versus keeping them accessible? How does choosing one over the other turn the person to the anti-gun side? Is one side letting themselves be emotionally hijacked?

So if you look at the entire population and take the accidental firearm deaths for children (0-17), the fact is that there is far less than one in a million chance of a child dying from a firearm accident. AGAIN, one is one too many, but statistically firearms aren't the big killer of our children....

That's assuming that you can be ready to go by the time you register the break in. If it is a break in.

When you look at it realistically a break in is less likely than an accidental shooting in a house with kids. If I'm going for safety and peace of mind I'll go with securing my guns.

Supposedly the tree is safe. We'll see how long it lives. http://www.henricocitizen.com/index.php/news/article/saving_short_pumps_famed_oak_tree_3124 Now I remember you talking about them at the movie. I'll have to pay a visit and listen to their sales pitch when they open. Of course I'll go with an...

Hey Bill, 17,000-square-feet!!!

Master Cho’s Tae Kwon Do and Martial Arts, a 17,000-square-foot, two-story facility is going up in the shadow of the old AMFAM facility where Uechi was taught. Given that many area martial arts schools are struggling with the current economy, it'll be interesting to see if they can fill this monster...

Gladwell is one of those writers who I love reading and think he's on to something. Only after I finish his books do I get the feeling that he's sometimes right, sometimes questionable and sometimes just full of beans. Lot's of folks do things for 10,000 hours without achieving great success. ...

I was sitting in the back and and was summoned back to work to take care of an issue for this last weekend's deployment. The joys of being on point for a roll out. Missed seeing you all.

Assailants film their own crime.

This recently happened in Richmond. It looks like the victim may have gotten the better of the guy who jumped him but the others quickly overwhelmed him. It shows some of the pitfalls of dealing with multiples. I remember some of these same issues showing up when we did Bill's Barroom Brawl drill. h...

Wow, was Vicki's memorial service packed! The church was filled and I think they had to put people in the balcony. And that was likely only a small sample of the people that knew and loved her. Most of us here on the forums knew Vicki as a martial artist but as her husband Davey said she was into th...

My last long conversation with Vicki was back in late Spring, right after starting my new job. We met for breakfast at the Silver Dinner and as usual we had a great talk. The very last thing we talked about before saying goodbye that day was about her favorite flower, the Iris. Each time I see an Ir...
