My new buddy

I finally got a B.O.B. extra long punching bag. Love it! Now I can finally practice the secret kung fu technique with full power. What you do is jab your finger in someone's face while saying "Hey, listen here, mister". Then you grab onto their face, while dick-punching them many times. :l...

Re: foundational exercises

Had an interesting development with the tai chi squatting stance thing. I had been up to two minutes with it, and by the time I was finished, my quadriceps would be swollen and hard as if I had been doing squats or whatever. I had to push on my knees with my hands in order to stand up. Excruciating....

Re: Avalanche

I realized that I have found an art that I want to really delve into and devote my time to. After a long time of learning from here and there and absorbing information into the foundation I had, as well as re-evaluating my mental and physical approach to this foundation, I find this san soo. From wh...

Avalanche

I have started learning some forms from what is called in America kung fu san soo. According to the person on the DVD's, these are supposed to open the acupuncture channels, and massage the internal organs. I have learned two of these so far; I have some thoughts. These dances are good for balance, ...

Re: foundational exercises

This got me thinking more about static exercises. I have started practicing the standing meditation again, after neglecting it for a while. I was thinking about what I can get from it that is different from dynamic exercise. While thinking about the process that it involves, I started visualizing th...

Re: foundational exercises

Thanks, Bill. This made me think of the jar exercise you guys do. One can do different things to strengthen the legs, grip, etc., and it is all good, but when I watch a clip of a master doing this ritual, it is clear that this is a MARTIAL ARTS exercise. When I see it, I can feel it and I know it is...

Re: foundational exercises

While thinking of power, endurance and stamina, I forgot about speed. Layers of an onion. :?

foundational exercises

I was thinking about those seemingly esoteric things that many styles practice, as foundation and attribute development for the "advanced" stuff. You see things that don't much to do with modern exercise regimes. Countless times I have heard people disparage these primitive exercises in fa...

Re: Meta-loop

I agree. One way to download movement and structure is to perform a ritual set of movements while in a non-cognitive state.
