He is a BOY. Let boys be boys. - Bill Let kids be kids. They all need the space to be themselves and as their parents we should be providing and managing that space. There are lines of accepted behavior and responsibilities appropriate for the maturity level. And, most important, there are consiste...

Ray used to teach that "blading/body shifting", he may still, by having one uki tuck their hands in their belt behind the back. The rest was Ippon Kumite, Oizuki Chudan. Punch makes contact to your midsection, turn your body so it slides off rather than penetrates. Kind of like boxers lear...

Practice your basic movements/techniques and kata VERY slowly. Breath with the movements - exhale with movements away from your center inhale with movements towards. Feel your balance. Visualize the spine as a stack of quarters and try to move in a manner that keeps the stack straight. Feel for the ...

The Glock 36 in .45 ACP is pictured above. I do not recommend that as it is very light for such a heavy cartidge and would require a lot of practice to use effectively.
I love mine.

AH, Shani Davis... who had to walk the gauntlet of his Chicago neighborhood being taunted for his Bonnie Blair shirt and for not playing basketball or football.

What kind of will must a man (or mother) like that have to persevere and succeed at the level he did?

Great discussion going here. Sh!t Happens and it frequently *****. There are people who do and people who get done. When people who do get done they do something about it. The others wait for someone else to do something and complain that it wasn't done correctly. If one finds themselves pissing and...

With all due respect, this was VERY human; sadly, horrifyingly, and tragically human.

I have not waded through every post on this thread; just the first few pages and the last page, so forgive my ignorance of all attempted points. I agree with Sensei Mattson's original statement about training new students to use what they naturally do and be comfortable with that, at least initially...

I was goaded into attending one of Lanmark's (sp?) introductory meetings. Lots and lots of talk about what it will do for you, nothing about how. I just had a real distrust of all the hot air and sunshine being expelled in that room. I am real glad I gave it a miss.

I'd love to continue some discussion of the type of scenario I outlined. It is a departure from the initial thrust of this thread. I would like to reference this on Van's forum. Is this OK for you Bill? There are some real issues for me, and maybe others, with this kind of situation.

I read the article in the Charlottesville paper this weekend. My first impression was that the woman got out of the car to give the other guy a piece of her mind. I have known women who are quite willing to let their mouth write checks they don't have the funds to cover, if you know what I mean. I m...
