This camp was the Best of the Best

Hi to all:

Sorry to take so long to post my camp impressions, but better than late than never!

David M.- thanks for the ride to camp from Boston and please thank your wife again for the great Chinese food at your center. You are a dynamic person with a superb attitude. It was a privilege to meet ...

Rides to & from camp needed!

Hi all. I too will be looking for a ride to camp from Logan. I am flying out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. I arrive (in theory) at Logan at approx. 12:00 noon on Thursday. I am booked to stay at camp on Thursday evening and would like to secure a ride anytime that day. David, if I can't find an earlier ...

Lunch Gathering for Forum Participants at Camp?

Doesn't matter! I too would like to put names and faces together. Please count me in ...

rank (again?)

As a lesser-ranked dan student, I had some questions about the recent promotions and was considering sending Sensei Mattson a discrete e-mail. Essentially, I was afraid to voice my questions openly lest it be taken as a sign of disrespect (none is intended). I am greatly encouraged that Sensei ...

rank (again?)

Bill Sensei:

Having witnessed the karate and learned the reputations of Senseis Bethoney, Maloney and Durkin, I don't think any witness could deny their fitness for the recently bestowed rank. Like you, I do not know Sensei Earle. But, I am more concerned with process (and the inherent credibility ...

Breathing

Rick Wilson began this "breathing" thread by addressing his desire to feel "connected" when he executed technique. I would like to return to that specific issue for a moment and recount my own understanding about the purpose of "Uechi breathing". This understanding is drawn from my interpretation of ...

Remember how all this got started?

Bill Sensei:

Just read John Lovas' e-mail to you and feel compelled to post as I was one of the eight students that attended the two morning push hands workshop with Mr. Tong. Our association with Mr. Tong arose out of our relationship with one of his students who is a Uechi shodan (now fully ...

To the Kenyukai crowd

To add my 2 cents(Canadian); I was privleged to meet Shinjo Sensei and several of his students and many karateka of his lineage at Alan Dollar's Golden Gate '98 last June when I and several other students from Nova Scotia attended the seminars and tournament. If there are diffrences between the ...
