Tampa Shootings and Workplace Violence

All, ...one report says that after Florida allowed the concealed carry of a firearm in 1987 that the murder rate dropped 20% while the national rate rose 14% but the attack rate on out-of-state and therefore unarmed visitors rose dramatically. When most visitors come to Florida, they usually pick up...

HIV and the dojo

Well - maybe this bodes well for the future of common sense and majority rule after all.

The 'Waiver' - How to Respond

Rich/Lori,

I would like to see the waiver form if possible. You seem to some additional "meat" that I don't have on mine.

mjmensale@aol.com or fax to 954-421-8044.

Thanks,

Tee-Bee (Tae-Bo?) #2

The local Tang Soo Do instructor has begun offering a new cardio defense program. Can't get much more blatant than that now, can we? What do you think the students will really think they will be learning? The major problem when people start going for the quick & easy is that they won't have the ...

FORCE OF INTENT

Lori, As Van so rightly points out, most senseis (yours truly included) are not properly trained in mind preparation or conditioning, yet they will endeavor to pass on their "knowledge" to their eager and unknowing students who will listen intently as their teacher spews forth "my dec...

What's In A Name?

Bill, The following comes from "The Original Martial Arts Encyclopedia" and might add some further delineation or interpretation to these terms: "DO - The way to enlightenment, self realization and understanding. Implies that a martial art has been transformed from a practical means o...

What's In A Name?

In going over my "Uechi-Ryu History Chronology" this weekend, I noticed something which never stood out before but now has piqued my curiosity. I assembled my chronology from various sources including GEM's "Uechi Ryu Karate Do" and "The Black Belt Test Guide," Alan Dol...

connection problem

George/Anthony,

This "home page" problem is still here. I've used several different machines at my office and at home and continue to get this error.

If I log directly on to the "forums" no problem.

What to do ??!!

Screaming Into The Wind

UECHI-BO!!!! Son of a bitch! Unfortunately, but true, the Billy Blanks and Joon Rhees of the world could very well be defining WHAT and HOW we teach if we don't come together as a unified force to be reckoned with. After all, that is what they have done - present a solid, unified front for their par...

Screaming Into The Wind

George, Allow me to apologize if you thought I was in any way casting stones - I wasn't. You posted a very telling commentary and asked for our opinions - you got mine, for what it's worth. Whatever wisdom I can contribute is minor compared to the vast amount of knowledge that resides with the regul...

Screaming Into The Wind

In a recent "What's New" column, GEM pontificates about the recent forum debates concerning all the political BS in Uechiworld. He puts forth two main reasons as to the political bruhaha - Money and Rank (so what else is new?). "Do away with all ranks over godan and take away the ego ...

How can we blame it all on guns?

Very telling, isn't it? Someone pointed out on another forum that children today are made to feel that the world revolves around them - and then when they f**k up, we slap them on the wrist and bring in a counselor to sooth their troubled psyche.
