Laird,

Good luck with the class.

The kids are no longer in Banff. (ah, to be young again and come and go as you please :D ) So, I don't know when I might be able to visit, but keep us posted on your progress and maybe I can drop in one day.

We’ve spoken about this subject of legalization of marijuana on the forum in the past. It’s become a pet peeve of mine. So, here goes the rant: Some mentioned they won’t be affected by it, one way or the other. I would disagree. If you look at the long term, and the costs of the illegal activity ass...

Dana, Glad you're talking about this! Was just looking at the total head covering protection with the clear lexan face shield. I haven't tried it, but it looks intriguing. Have tried a boxing style head gear with a single steel bar running horizontal across the face at about nose level. For straight...

I agree that the U.S. and the British should be paid for their monetary costs of kicking Saddams' @$$. I don't think as it stands, Iraq has the capacity to offset the price of oil in a big way. (May be wrong on this, but...) I was under the impression Iraqs' capacity was in the 1 to 2 million barrel...

Dana, I would worry more about 'small pox', than nuclear danger. The old soviet union has tons or if you like "tonnes" of the stuff. Here in Canada, the military has emergency plans in place in case of an attack. I don't know all the details, but, I imagine it has something to do with mart...

Don, Is it just me, or do others NOT hear the typical sounds from the middle east? Syria, no official comment that I have heard. (I would have expected them to offer to join forces with SH ) Jordan, no response. Lebanon, no offers. Libya, not a peep. Egypt, very quiet. Yemen, no official offers. The...

jorvik says," ...I would like to see the fat guy do that to a thai boxer."

I'm with jorvik on this one.
I think the big man would get a very unpleasant surprise if he found himself up against a thai boxer.

Outrage above rage

Here, Here!!

Noone should have to worry about their personal safety or that of their loved ones, out walking, relaxing at a cafe or at home.

And anyone that crosses that line, deserves the outrage. Image

Man gets 4 to 6 years in manslaughter stabbings of two men

Alan, With this brief description of the case you don't mention any other witnesses. Do you think the outcome would have been different if the third person had met his demise also? As in, no other witnesses to argue whether it was self defense or not. Or would the state still have pressed charges? O...

Recent confrontation in South Carolina

Len, I’m in a quandary with my response to this one. Up front, you are right in your evaluation. My problem with agreeing, is the actual physical contact made by the attacker. It seems to me, once physical contact has been made, the attacker has crossed the line. I realize a finger poke is by no mea...

1/4 second timing !

Gary, I too, wasn’t familiar with the term “1/4 sec reaction”, but; it all started to fall into place as I was doing traditional opposed maneuvers. These are the ones in which the participants touch the back of their hands before attempting to hit one another (a la; Han’s tournament in “Enter the Dr...

Trial Begins-Hockey Spectator Fight-Manslaughter of Self-Def

Alan,

You said;

"Conflicting testimony by witnesses as to what was observed was a major factor in establishing reasonable doubt as to Junta's intentions."

Could you tell us what the versions were in regard to what the witnesses saw? And how this swayed the jury.
