Baaad Uechi-ka, no grabbing!

My students and I went to a "Martial Arts" tournament last Saturday. My son and I were scolded repeatedly for "grabbing". The judge even went so far as to playfully bop my son on the head and say "This is Tae Kwon Do, NOT Karate. Most of what we were scolded for were actuall...

I believe I've got it.

[quote]The Uechi side kick as I learned it was somewhere between a snap and thrust kick which was directed at a 45 degree angle to the front. I originally did it with some hip movement as well as the snap or extension of the lower leg. To be fair to my Original Instructor, the way I "learned&qu...

So your flip comment is actually not so flip to someone like Glenn.
Glenn can't be trusted! He's not even a native species. He still bleeds Wildcat Blue! :multi:

Thanks, neighbor. We will soon meet. By the way... Do people use mostly bluegrass or fescue on their lawns? Sounds good! As far as the grass, Kentucky 31 Fescue is King throughout the state, much to the dismay of The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and many sportsmen and environmentalists....

LOL. George, that reminds me of my first boss. He said the way he wanted to go was to be shot by a jealous husband, when he was 102.

Thanks for the input Dana! As I mentioned George had started me on the right track, when I was participating in the virtual dojo. All of the different explanations of how this kick is done correctly gives me an even better understanding! Thanks all!

Is the Uechi Side Snap Kick Useless and Potentially Harmful?

Ok, now that I hopefully have gotten everyone's attention and hopefully there are several out there that can't wait to comment. My purpose is to provoke a lively educational discussion. The Uechi side kick as I learned it was somewhere between a snap and thrust kick which was directed at a 45 degree...

On a personal basis I've been thinking about the chambering issue a lot in the last year. I have had difficulty (pain and weakness) with both of my shoulders. Thank God both sides seem to have healed. However, the physical therapists I saw, and speak to on a daily basis (I work in a rehab hospital),...
