Re: Is this still a forum?

Hi Glenn! You're actually one of the people I remember posting here!

I'm not sure a good way to ask this but are the old posters still alive? Bill, Van, etc.?

Is this still a forum?

I used to post here regularly 20 years ago when I was young and stupid and knew very little (but had a LOT of muscles!) I progressed from TSD to ATA and WTF TKD to Judo to Western Boxing, Muay Thai, dabbled in JJJ, BJJ, Kali/Escrima, just about everything. Obviously I have some free time now. I thou...

Re: On toes vs on heels as default human stance

You ran barefoot on your heels? Impressive. And also trusting... that you wouldn't find any broken bottles. 8O

On toes vs on heels as default human stance

I got in to a debate: heel to toe walking vs toe to heel walking. Obviously the "on toes" thing is all the rage lately... I was arguing that shoes have ruined our gates (as has been the rage for the past 10 years or so to argue). Now toes are also a clear advantage for athletic endeavors, ...

The CoR meets in person. I'm sure there are others as well.

Bill, somehow you confused the idea of a dictatorship with atheism.

Re: Anyone have any favorite atheist orgs?

Most atheists are far more familiar with the bible than people who identify as Christians, in my experience. At any rate, people who go to church regularly are not the target demographic for "liberating". You wouldn't believe how many conversations I've had that go like this (stripped of p...

Re: Anyone have any favorite atheist orgs?

No, I don't like religion. I want to join and support atheist organizations that are trying to actively dismantle religions, not mingle with them.

Re: Anyone have any favorite atheist orgs?

Stereotypes aren't stereotypes if they're true. Put a flaming gay male atheist in a dress and have him walk through downtown NYC. No issues. Do the same thing in rural Louisiana and he's going to get the hell kicked out of him. You can argue that kumbaya and everyone is beautiful all you want, but w...

Re: Anyone have any favorite atheist orgs?

I would lay money on the north east having more open minded, progressive attitudes than the bible belt. It's testable!

Anyone have any favorite atheist orgs?

There are the obvious, but I figure the northeast is the center of reason! Feel free to PM me as well.

Re: Kumite

That's not what I saw on a first glance, it looked like "MMA" rules, and that's fine, I'm not saying they should react to anything other than what they get because they did fine. Let me watch this again, brb. Ya I definitively disagree, they were punching to the face and attempting take do...

Re: Kumite

That stance is really interesting. They're using almost a "rock-a-way" shoulder block which lets the front leg kicks come easily and protects against punches, and are hunched over with their hands low to prevent take downs. It would never hold up against a modern western style attack, but ...

Single word descriptions

I recently had an interesting discussion where things were broken down to their almost stereotypical, defining, single word; what makes it useful and special. Some examples, starting with what I work with currently: Boxing: Simplified - You do one thing and you do it better than everyone else. (I ac...

Re: POTUS Throws in the Towel

I was just on another blog where I reamed someone a new one for using inappropriate language. It seems it's OK for some to use bigoted language because they... well... their poo doesn't stink. But if someone else uses it, they're racist or homophobic. Sorry, but I don't buy it. There's one protocol...
