Re: Better living through science
http://cdn.modernfarmer.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/meme4.png I'm sure drug studies must be published in those "peer reviewed" publications which must give us all great confidence in these drugs. I viewed this film, which contains lots of studies and findings that scare me. . . and unl...

Dr. Al, Turning 58. . .
I turned 58 last week and my staff completely surprised me with a little champagne toast on Friday afternoon. The party my staff threw for me last week took me totally by surprise…. These are some of my favorite memories and I hope I never lose them. I’m sure you have those kinds of memories, too… a...

Turmeric, the delicious root with lots of health benefits
I woke up with the sunlight … and birds singing so loudly I thought they were in the room with me. I walked out of my cottage to a warm breeze, and sat down to a delicious breakfast: fresh fruit, banana pancakes and a tall glass of jackfruit juice. I made my way to my friends Westi and Lelir’s hous...

Someone sent me this clip of a really fine Yang taichi set and I noticed that the grand master did not end up where he began. He was close though. . . A huge number of viewers and almost all comments were similar to this one: david lee1 year ago This is Yang taichi the last master was Yang zen-hu wh...

how muscles respond
You probably know someone who’s fallen and broken a hip. But what you may not know is that it’s not just the elderly who fall, or break their hips. You can be very youthful and still be at high risk. • The risk of hip fracture doubles every five years after you turn fifty. • Nine out of ten hip fra...

Blood Pressure issues. . .
I am not a fan of helping my patients maintain normal blood pressure synthetically. I consider that as a last resort. Mainstream medicine has no faith in your body, its native ability to heal itself, or natural solutions. That's why today I want to show you three ways to help you maintain healthy b...

Value of Fresh Foods. . .
Ancient cultures knew the value of the whole, fresh foods they ate, and what to do with them. Like eating fish for better eyesight. Unfortunately, this way of looking at things with an eye on nature has been discarded and forgotten. Today, we have all of these individualized categories of study bein...

Bromelain effective to relieve acute general knee pain.
My new patient P.D. came in to see me for a follow-up. He had been living with constant knee pain for a couple of years. He tried to dismiss it. “I’m just getting old, I guess,” he told me. P.D. is only 52. He’d been taking pills every day for his pain. Big Pharma makes it very easy to believe that’...

The Pharmas must love this guy!!!
This guy is saying what many "thinking" individuals believe. Drugs, like addictive foods, drinks and candy are not as good for you as their makers publish in their ads! Have you heard of NNT ? I wouldn’t be surprised if you hadn’t… it stands for "number needed to treat." The num...

Hey Bill. . . remember Susan telling you for the past few years how bad those diet soda were??? Of course, she didn't have a study performed for an AMA approved journal. . . :) I am curious if the manufacturer of these poison drinks will be affected by a single study that few people read and no one ...

Re: Al Sears, MD (An anti-drug message to consider)
Thanks for the comments on the Doctor's article Bill.
My medical doctor prescribes drugs ONLY if the patient won't try his non-drug health options or. . . if the patient tries, but doesn't succeed with the non-drug program.
Most medical doctors I've encountered don't bother with the first option.

Al Sears, MD (An anti-drug message to consider)
My old office manager J.F. was on beta-blockers for high blood pressure. I put her on a treadmill once to give her a test and nothing happened. She got extremely short of breath, but her heart couldn’t keep up. It was still at 80 bpm. She couldn’t challenge her heart and make it stronger because of ...

Re: Uechi-ryu kata start/end positions - What do you do?
This from Darin: Hi Al, My position is this. The Chinese believe and I concur, that the practice of form, kata, hand sets is to find the perfect balance in your movements. If we float and drift to where ever and settle for where we are, we are not seeking that perfect stepping and balance. While we ...
