Sounds about right, George.
Keep that Windows 7 machine around for a bit. It'll serve its purpose, and you should be able to pass files around w/o too much trouble.

Re: Windows 10
Thanks to Bruce Hirabayashi for finding this. I'm not surprised. Welcome to some unwanted deja vu. Last week Microsoft released a cumulative bug fix for Windows 10 which caused endless crash loops. Now Microsoft has released a cumulative bug fix to address it and guess what? Yes, it is also causing ...

Re: Windows 10
The path to digital I believe is inevitable. What an incredibly lame-brained oversight on the part of the librarians archiving your work. How hard would it have been to do scans in color? No doubt someone subcontracted the work to the lowest bidder, and they used the least expensive high-volume meth...

Re: Framing
I find people bring their prejudices and tendencies into the martial arts school with them. So if you have a mind that sees patterns, you will see a bigger picture. If you're a person with a less inquisitive mind who learns by memory, you'll likely be a literalist. If I had a dollar for every time s...

Re: Wdow 10
When I got my Dell Latitude E6540, I did so as a business. In other words... My machine doesn't have preloaded cr@p on it. I pay more not to have this invasive junk annoying me and dragging my processing power down. It's worth it. ... I insisted on Windows 7 Professional. It's rock solid. Until my b...

Re: unforeseen consequences
The guy was an idiot. While it's true that an average adult chimp can maul and destroy a human, it goes beyond that. if I'm not mistaken, the attacked researcher engaged in gestures (chimp grunting with eye-to-eye contact) that challenged the male chimp who attacked him. He'll live with that mistake...

What does that movement do, and why am I doing it. Sometimes you're doing a movement because there is a literal interpretation - such as the knee thrust in Seisan. Sometimes the movement isn't stand-alone, but rather a word in a complete sentence - such as the knee thrust in Seisan. And sometimes y...

Meet the New Boss - from Fatshaming to Fitshaming
Everyone's a victim today. Because of one's age, race, gender, ethnicity, income, religion, sexual orientation, etc., etc., one can claim protected species class and bully the world into getting their way in life. Such is life. The "fatshaming" campaign these days is all the rage. Hollywoo...

Re: Kanei Uechi Kyohan on Ebay
Emphasis in red is my own. In view of its increasing rarity, what would you consider to be a reasonable price for a Kyohon in good condition ? Seizan Therein lies the rub. Unfortunately the binding for this wonderful piece of work was god-awful. Mine split the day I opened the book. I treated it wit...

Re: Kanei Uechi Kyohan on Ebay
First... Like Playboy magazine, most people don't buy it to read the articles. :-P But seriously... The massively large B&W photographs in that book are classic. I suppose at some point someone will scan then all and they'll make their way to the Internet, but... As for the half of the book that...

I think I paid $35 for mine - brand new.
I hate that this book is getting to be so valuable. Now I'm afraid to touch it. This shouldn't be.

Re: Mediterranean Diet and Long Term Cognitive Function
To the lay person, this may seem like overkill. To the scientist, not so much. There's a lot of "Internet advice" being given these days by people who pay attention to what's posted on Facebook pages (often by fraudsters like David Wolfe who steer you to their site to sell you schlock) or ...
