The voice over reminds me Jim Jones. Less the British accent? I knew it sounded familiar.. Ray ,just clarifying . I fully accept your points. But again not to confuse readers on form then function in the methodology I say used to be Uechi-ryu there is a clear cut time devoted to form ,then there is a clear cut starting point for function in other words they are mixed together much later T...

The Shu stage. Learn the form first ,that used to be the uechi-ryu way ,such as you devote all your training time to the form ,not for a day ,or a week ,or months .No not any of that ,more like years on end . When classifying things within certain methodologies ,I tend to see that things can be misl...

I was told ,each form was attempting to communicate fighting principles ,we rushed from one form to another never really digesting much ,our sparring did not in the slightest resemble the style or the form .Then we received some better instruction from with...

A few goals . Animalistic motions . A way of life . Animal like motions stand more chance of working in a real fight ,and those type of motions are more attainable if I train regular on those forms . I had this conversation 30 years ago with a martial artist who thought he was using his kata moves ,...

Form . A couple of years ago,I visited a boxers gym ,[actually we are friends] ,who switched to mixed martial arts,I demonstrated [Ikyroko] method on the form of things ,he could not see the fight within these forms ,but with a bit a sparring some function emerged that gave fight credibility to the ...
