A class act.

I'm posting this here because Anna Nicole was a woman, and her death has ignited a firestorm of press, melodrama, gold diggers and media-hungry personalities. However, among this circus of tragedy, a true hero has emerged, one whose model we can admire: Big Moe. Big Moe was ANS's bodyguard, and he i...

See, Dana? -- We love you!

Happy Valentine's too, BTW: Hope you got a bunch!
You may be a rockin' Uechi Girl, (no doubt in my mind), but hey, it's Valentines' Day, ok?

Hey Dana (hug)

You're awesome, your insights into the MA/Uechi world transcend the womens' view by a wide margin, you challenge all of us to debate your topics, and we're better for it.

More, please!

"I've been studying Uechi-ryu for 3 years, and will be testing for Shodan at the end of March".JFinnivan

Wow! That in itself is cause for congratulation! You must have worked extremely hard over those three years, that's amazing!
Can you share your training experience with us?

If we can define "Springiness" as "the ability of a given material to absorb and return deformation without collapse", then I would categorize this quality into THREE categories: 1: Those materials which DO NOT exhibit VISIBLE deformation under load, but the deformation can be me...

Mr. Glasheen: In addition to the wonderful posts, thanks for sharing the video, and welcome to "the club"! A bunch of us, on this and Mr. Wilson's forum have just thrown our Kata videos up for all to see, and it feels wonderful having done that, even though we know that our imperfections h...

Laird, I just wanted to pick you up on this: you posted: "Neil, if the purpose and intent of firearms if to kill people we Canucks are piss poor shots!" ----------------------------------------------- That's not what I said. I didn't say "FIREARMS" I said "HANDGUNS". Jo...

Jorvik:

My reply was based entirely on the PURPOSE of DESIGN.

PISTOLS and REVOLVERS were designed SPECIFICALLY for KILLING HUMANS.

AUTOMOBILES WERE NOT: They were designed for TRANSPORTATION.

I hope my excessive use of capital letters prevails where simple logic did not.

I'll wade in with my two cents' worth: "Breathing during exertion" as Stryke mentioned, rings to me like grunting while pushing a car, or while power lifting: these are efforts that involve relatively slow, full-body efforts that are abetted by a strength-gathering moment of "pre-exer...

Jorvik posted this a bit farther back, I'd like to respond: he posed the question: "There are more people killed by motor cars than by guns: What I really don't understand is why folks aren't calling for motor cars to be banned" (Jorvik) The answer, Jorvik, is in two words: " PURPOSE ...

Wise words. It reminds us all that the skills and abilities we work so hard to attain can atrophy quickly, and whatever belt we have requires constant, regular workouts to just maintain, never mind progress. Even during a week or two off, say during the summer when Sensei is on vacation, or over the...

Sanchin is surely an enigma, if ever there was one. This was driven home to me while helping a new student with the basics, and explaining that Sanchin is a stance, a Kata, and a biomechanical concept as well. ( The biomechanical is what the article seems to allude to.) And, never mind the whole med...
