Akil what is wrong with you?

Seriously, YES islamophobia is on the rise, and it is bad.

But the thing is, many people on the forum have shown nothing but respect toward islam.

Tony has said some stuff that can be interpreted as hate, but every time ive addressed him, he has been nothing but alright.

I believe there is a rise in fundamentalist christianity in the states, and i have talked with some of them on the net, and they are convinced that anyone who believes in islam is violent.

But that fact of the matter is, it goes both ways. Hell, its worse for us Akil, fundamentalist christians do not kill thier own people, but look in iraq, a suicide bombers kill more iraqi muslims then americans.

I come from a conservative muslims amily, yet even we understand that people tend to get pissed at something like the london bombings and 9/11 and tend not to think of it as racism.

Wow! we're like nieghbors Mike! I hear the Island has changed alot. Scott Danziger lives there and says it's become a real madhouse. He even drove by my old house and took a video of it to send to me. The block I lived on looks totally different... seems alot more developed, alot busier.

Ahmed, nice.

Tony, The Island is nuts. The Belt Pkwy is backed up 24/7 and my little 1 bathroom 3 bedroom Cape Cod is now going for close to $400,000. It's not exactly the place I grew up in. Grandma used to call it the country. We figured out that it's cheaper to live down here and visit our favorite places on LI.

"The Argument Culture" by Deborah Tannen.

A good read about polarization and why we think/act this way.

Akil

Part of the problem is the crowd you hang out with. Been there, done that. As a college kid I worked as a manual laborer for a kitchen appliance place, and got to see the colorful underbelly of America. Those with thin skins need not apply.

I survived with nothing worse than constant teasing of my alleged sexual identity (because of the length of my hair, and because I would talk to the two gay guys who worked in finishing).

Yee hah!

Tell your kids to study hard, and keep their noses clean.
