For the first time, I walked the full length of Wollaston Beach in Quincy, MA—2.3 miles long. The northern border is a saltwater marsh barrier. A river flows at the southernmost border. While walking on the soft sand, I discovered that the low impact and resistance make excellent leg strengthening exercise. The sloping beach with soothing wave noises mask heavy traffic, create a peaceful atmosphere. It is considered a blue space, a large body of water known to sooth and improve mental health in according to studies.

Obviously, not everyone has access to a beach. For instance, people living in central Florida has no beaches nor hills. I’m curious to hear what they use as a good substitute for beaches for strengthening exercises.

Re: Walks
One major drawback of beaches and nature walks are the bugs. Ughh! One guy, ahead of me, walked through a bush, attracting mosquitoes swarming around his feet. It followed him for several minutes. I also got sunburnt. Nice climate control Planet Fitness gyms doesn't sound so bad.

Re: Walks
Now that summer’s here, and a good chunk of the US is sweltering under a heat wave, it’s important to keep hydrated and not overheat. During heatwaves I much prefer walking in the city rather beaches or nature because I can walk into an air conditioned library or store whenever I get too hot.
