Want Advice on Improving My Uechi-Ryu Kata Performance

Post by faelannm »

Hey everyone,

I have been practicing Uechi-Ryu for a while now but I feel like my kata performance is missing something. I am comfortable with the movements, but sometimes I feel such as I am just going through the motions rather than truly expressing the essence of the kata. I see higher-level practitioners who have this strong, almost effortless power & precision. I want to know what I can do to get to that level.

Are there any drills or mental approaches that helped you refine your kata? Do you focus more on breathing, tension or a particular mindset? Also, any advice on making transitions smoother while maintaining power?

Also i have check https://www.uechi-ryu.com/forums/viewtopic.phpcybersecurity-interview-ques this I want to hear about your experiences and any training methods that worked for you.

Thank you......:)

Good, smooth acceleration in strikes are important, as well as no pauses. The entire kata should be a continuous motion from start to finish. I can't tell what makes the best form because everyone's body is different; each pose may work great in some body type, but not in other. Age can be a factor. I'm not the best expert in this, which was why I waiting so long to answer, hoping for an expert to respond.
