Why can't we have this governor in Virginia! That is two victories this month.

Wyoming: Governor Freudenthal Signs Castle Doctrine Bill!

In a message posted on his website today, Thursday, March 13, Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal (D) announced that he has signed House Bill 137, introduced by State Representative Lorraine Quarberg (R-28), otherwise known as the Castle Doctrine measure. While the bill was stripped of its "no duty to retreat in a public place" provision, the version that was sent to the Governor's desk did keep the "no duty to retreat inside one's home" language as well as the provision that individuals whose homes are unlawfully entered cannot be held civilly liable if they use deadly force to defend their home, self or family.

So if I got this right Timmy Boy says I can't carry into a restaurant even if I don't drink, but Commonwealth Attorneys and Deputy Attorneys can and down a few for good measure.

I hope he's on some hooker's list somewhere as Client10.

Update on Legislation in Wisconsin!

Governor Jim Doyle (D) finally sided with Wisconsins law-abiding gun owners and signed Assembly Bill 581. AB 581 will prevent government authorities from confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens, such as occurred in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

West Virginia Governor Signs Castle Doctrine Legislation!

On Wednesday, March 12, Governor Joe Manchin, (D) signed Senate Bill 145, West Virginias Castle Doctrine bill, into law. SB145 will permit law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, against an attacker in their homes and any places outside of their home where they have a legal right to be. It is clearly stated that there is no duty to retreat from an attacker, allowing law-abiding citizens to stand their ground to protect themselves and their family. SB145 also protects individuals from civil lawsuits by the attacker or the attackers family when force is used. This is good. Without these laws, any 'shall issue' state law are essentially worthless.

But even with these laws extending 'immunity' against criminal/civil prosecution...it is not that easy.

If you can't 'sell' your conduct to fit the law's parameters, you are still going to be drawn into the 'black Hole' _

Here is where 'education' is paramount.

Oh boy... Reports of the session on the 2nd Amendment bode well for the citizens. I would not be surprised to see a 6 to 3 decision in late June that affirms an individual right to keep and bear arms!

Utah Governor Signs Emergency Powers Bill!

On Monday, March 17, Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. (R) signed Senate Bill 157 into law.SB157, sponsored by State Senator Mark Madsen (R-13), would prevent the state of Utah from restricting the possession, transfer, sale, transport, storage, display, or use of firearms or ammunition during a declared state of emergency. Simply put, this legislation will prevent government authorities from confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens, such as occurred in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Idaho Governor Signs Two Important Pro-Gun Bills!

Governor Butch Otter (R) has signed two pro-gun bills that will significantly strengthen the rights of Idahos law-abiding gun owners.On Monday, March 31, he signed Senate Bill 1441, legislation that will codify into law that no county, city, or local government body can regulate the sale, acquisition, transfer, carry, and storage of firearms, adding them to the existing points of preemption. Also signed into law was House Bill 604. Enacted by Governor Otter on Friday, March 28, HB604 will protect Idahos shooting ranges from attacks such as noise complaints and local regulation.

Mississippi: Governor Barbour Signs Shooting Range Protection Bill!

On Monday, April 1, 2008, Governor Haley Barbour (R) signed House Bill 346. Sponsored by State Representative Warner McBride (D-10) and State Senator Walter Michel (R-25), this measure will ensure that Mississippi's shooting ranges will be protected from local noise and zoning ordinances aimed at shutting them down. It will also guard against lawsuits filed by newcomers who acquire property near an existing range, as long as there has not been a substantial change in the nature of activities at the range (i.e., hours of operation, number of people using the range, or the types of firearms shot at the facility.)

Important Pro-Gun Legislation Passes in Florida

Fairfax, Va. Florida Governor Charlie Crist today signed important National Rifle Association (NRA)backed legislation into law that will protect the existing rights of law-abiding gun owners. House Bill 503 preserves the self-defense rights of law-abiding men and women as they travel in their cars to and from their daily activities.

Federal Firearms Transportation Statute:

The federal firearms transportation statute basically states that you are allowed to transport a legally owned firearm through any state as long as you meet the following requirements.

1. Your weapon is kept unloaded and stored in a separate compartment not readily accessible by either the driver or passengers.

2. Any ammunition is kept separate from location of firearms and is also not readily accessible by either the driver or passengers.

If there is not a separate compartment available in the vehicle then the firearm must be kept in a locked container and stored somewhere other than the glove box or console.
