What wonderful cooperation. Hopefully you will get support from all Uechi family systems instructors and students.
Harry Skeffington, the person who owns the server that hosts this site will be having dinner with Van, Tomoyose and me tonight. I'll see if he is willing to help out by providing the space and some expertise to help this project get off the ground.
He can set up a "Uechi Family of Styles Registry" site. With all this talent, I'm sure you will figure out a way to appoint a programmer/data manager to receive the forms and upload the information.
The nice thing about being public, the data is open to scrutiny. Hard to falsify information without being caught. The project certainly has my blessing and support. Go for it!

So, Mr Testa or Anyone interested, if you send me details (i.e. exactly what fields you want to track) I would be more than glad to send you a program. Please keep in mind you will need MS Access to run it however.

Len,
Having written you this morning and now seeing this post, Socrates is the person who has what you need to get the job done. Actually Alan and Socrates together seem to be the team you need for a PC based application. But I am still willing to follow this project and help out where I can.
Maybe assist in the data gathering portion.
Socrates,
Well I think that I shall just move to the back seat on this portion. I am on a completely different platform and database and will be of no use. Still self studying C & C++. But should you feel you want to run your program logic or file layout by someone I am more than willing to help. If there is anything you need assistance with I am ready, willing, and able.
This is really cool seeing MA cross over to the MIS arena in such a way. Who would have thought. Not me.
Peace Out......

American Uechi-ryu Masters Lineage Chart
I am a little but overwhelmed about all the attention that this thread is getting.
What started out to be an American Uechi-ryu Student's "family tree" chart has now turned into a software program of Uechi-ryu Student Identification! I did not intend to collect personal information data on every student in the USA. Most martial artist want to remain annoymous. I do, however, like the ideas being discussed.
LAC, Socrates, Alan Moulton and Bill Glasheen appear to have all the required knowledge we need. I have MS Access 97 on my computer at work and MS Access 2000 at home. They are not compatable. I know how to use Access 97. I am unfamiliar with 2000. I know how to input data as I have extensive training in laboratory management systems and a fugitive emissions management system. Inputting data is not hard but it is tedious.
I have no doubt that the task of setting up database tables and making a program can be accomplished by the responders to this thread. I thank each and every one who has given ideas and is willing to work on the software. I still say the greatest people in the world are martial artists.
The question that is perplexing is this: How do we collect the data to insert into the tables?
I assume that each dojo keeps records of their students. I do. All black belts whom have tested under a Sensei should be listed in the dojo files with rank and date of test. How do we get this information from each Sensei without causing too much of a disruption to the Sensei and the dojo? There may be a few who will not divulge any information.
Also the Shohei-ryu schools who were Uechi-ryu schools should not be omitted from this program. Will they be willing to hand over their student files.
Is there any organizational record keeping other than the records of the Uechi-ryu Karate Association. I heard that the Shohei group had taken the records of all students who tested before 1989 or 1990, and that Kanmei Uechi has the records of all the Uechi-ryu students tested after that date. So now there are two sets of books. One for Uechi-ryu and one for Shohei-ryu. All students who have had their certificates come from Okinawa have their Sensei's name on the application. Asking these groups for the information would be the best way to get the data. Maybe with George Sensei's help we can ask Tomoyose Sensei to assist us in this task.
If this is not possible, is there any other way we can get this data?
Socrates...Send me your e-mail address. You can get mine from my forum.

That is excellant news Sensei Mattson.
Thanks for your support and the use of Uechi-ryu.com for the collection of data.
I wish to change the title to North American Masters Lineage to include the Canadians in this venture. If there is anyone in Canada who would like to become a member or this data collection team, please e-mail me at the link in one of my previous posts above.
We can begin the data collection phase as soon as I get the databse structure on my computer.
Information that I would like to see collected would be:
Student Name;
Date of first class;
Name of first Sensei;
First Sensei's dojo name and address;
Date of Shodan Test;
Sensei who signed Shodan Certificate;
Date of Nidan test;
Sensei who signed Nidan Certificate;
Date of Sandan test;
Sensei who signed Sandan Certificate;
Date of Yondan test;
Sensei who signed Yondan Certificate;
Date of Godan test;
Sensei who signed Godan Certificate;
Date of Rokkudan test;
Sensei who signed Rokkudan Certificate;
ETC.
I will start a new topic in this forum with instructions on how to send data to the team members.
So far we have commitments from Socrates, LAC and M Keller.
Thank you to all.
